As a child I had a natural interest in healing. In high school I started emergency medical training, and when I turned eighteen I received my first medical license as a Nevada EMT. I worked on an ambulance, in an emerency room, and in Nevada state parks on my summer college breaks. At some point I realized I wanted do more than emergency care, and symptom managment. During that time I went to Seattle Pacific University, and earned degrees in Psychology and Anthropology. After graduation, I sold my car and bought a one-way plane ticket to Japan. I spent four years studying healing and martial arts in Kumamoto, Japan. I obtained black belts in Aikido, and Heiho Nitenichiryu (the double sword style of Miyamoto Musashi). After a shoulder injury, I was introduced to the Japanese healing arts. It fascinated me. I took up study with a local master. Upon my return to the United States I sought out more training in Asian Medicine. I found Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM) in Seatlle, and graduated with a Masters in Acupuncture, Japanese Acupuncture certificate, and a Qigong certificate. Years later I advanced my training with a Doctorate at American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine specializing in Women’s Health and Pain Management. Which included working in several hospitals, and clinics in Japan, China, and the USA.
In 1996 I moved to sunny Florida to join family, and have been in full time acupuncture practice for over twenty five years in South Florida. I was the first acupuncturist with an accredited masters, and doctorate in acupuncture in Palm Beach County. I specializes in gentle acupuncture with additional training in Japanese Acupuncture, laser therapy, injection therapy, postural therapy, hypnosis, and herbal medicine. I have worked in Western medical offices, Chiropractic and for the Spa at Maralago. I have taught many Japanese Acupuncture classes and served as a table translator for national conferences in the USA, Japan, and Europe. I taught at Pacific College of Health Sciences 2019-2023. At Pacific College of Health Sciences I developed the popular "Integrative Pain Management" and "Integrative Case Management" classes. I have a passion for teaching and I strive to make my classes pragmatic, clinically relevant and growth provoking. I have been teaching 25 years at Atlantic College of Oriental Medicine including TCM Gynecology, Internal Medicine, External Medicine, Modern Medicine, and Japanese Acupuncture techniques. My courses are found on Net of Knowledge for Acupuncture CEUs or by clicking the "On Demand Classes" page.
